We commit ourselves without demanding that others commit themselves with us or on their own, like us or in some other way.
We commit ourselves without judging those who do not, without pointing the finger at those who do not, without condemning those who do not, without trying to find out why they don’t, without giving up because others will not commit themselves.
We know that we have no power on anyone and we do not want to force the hand of anyone, while being engaged and continuing to be open to each free movement of the spirit.
We know that we can do nothing about this reality that is our world outside, poor as we are and as we intend to remain.
The world is moving if we move; it changes if we change; it renews itself if someone becomes a new creature; it becomes barbaric if we unleash the beast that is within each one of us.
The “new order” comes into place if someone strives to become a “new man.”
Spring begins with the first flower, day with the first glimmer of light, night with the first star, a stream with the first drop, fire with the first spark, love with the first dream.
We commit ourselves because we couldn’t not commit ourselves.
There is someone or something in usan instinct, a reason, a vocation, a gracestronger than ourselves.
The spirit can open a passage through the resistance of our selfishness, even in this way, making us ready to obey anew those demands that can be issued in each one of us by our conscience, our reason, or our faith.
We commit ourselves in order to find meaning in life, in this life, our life, a reason that is not one of the many that we know and that do not conquer our heart, a profit that is not one of the usual traps generously offered to young people by practical people.
We only live once and we do not want to bet our life on something small.
We are interested to bring an eternal destiny in time, to feel responsible for everything and everyone, to get going, even through long wanderings, towards Love, which spreads a smile of poetry on every creature and makes us reflect in front of a cradle and expectant in front of a coffin.
We commit ourselves not to reorder the world, not to remake it at our measure, but to love it.
We are committed because we believe in Love, the only certainty which is second to none, which alone is enough to have us commit ourselves without measure.
